What will it involve?
Your Osteopath will complete a detail medical history covering a range of specific and standard questions. We are trained to ensure that any pain you feel is being caused by musculoskeletal issues. If any concerns are found your Osteopath will contact your GP and help you organize any further testing.
Through a thorough examination the Osteopath will identify the causes of pain, which typically are not in the location of pain. Once completed your Osteopath will give you their diagnoses and together create a short and longer term treatment plan.
The initial session is normally 45 mins. Any scan results you may have would be useful for the session.
Why have the procedure?
To live a pain free life is important for a number of reasons, especially when the solution is normally very simple. Your Osteopath can guide you on how to stay healthy and pain free.
Does it hurt?
Generally, no. At times some treatments can be sore, but this depends on your presentation. The Osteopath will discuss each treatment with you before beginning. You may also experience some soreness for up to 48hrs after you treatment. Your Osteopath can help discuss when this may happen and how to manage it.
How Many Treatments Do I Need?
This is dependent on what the presentation is. Typically, you should feel less symptoms after 3-6 sessions. If, however the presentation is more complex, your Osteopath will explain the expected recovery time.
How quickly will I see the results?
At times result can be instant, with less pain and more mobility being perceived. However, it can take longer pending the presentation.
How long will the results last?
Depending on the presentation, the aim of the Osteopath is to make sure you are pain free. With the proper exercise and maintenance you can have a pain free life moving forwards.
