Milia Removal

Milia are often called milk spots or white spots, they appear as pearly white bumps protruding out from under the skin and are found on the face, especially around the eyes.
More often, the cause is the use of a product that contains comodogenic ingredients found in many cosmetics and make up. They become blocked in a skin pore, which over a period of time creates its own outer membrane.
They are also known to be hereditary or found on skin with acne symptoms.

More FAQ'S

What will it involve?
Ideally an exfoliation treatment such as a Fresh Up Light, Micro-dermabrasion or an Acid Skin Peel along with Steam & Pore Extraction is advised prior to a milia extraction to aid ease of the removal, discomfort, healing and downtime.
The only way milia can be removed effectively is by inserting a sterile lance needle to break through the milia membrane, followed by hands on gentle extraction to release the pearly matter contents.
The area treated is complete with a sterilising solution, leaving your skin cleaner and smoother.
We use disposable sterile lance needles for this process.

Why have the procedure?
Milia generally will not go away its own accord and often grow bigger.
We advise to remove the milia before it grows to ensure ease of removal and promote quicker healing on the skin surface.
From our years of experience the needle extraction method is the only successful procedure to safely remove milia from within the skin.

Does it hurt?
Each individual has varied pain threshold to the extraction action. Care is taken to make it as comfortable as possible.

How Many Treatments Do I Need?
We endeavor to extract as much of the Milia as possible in a single treatment; however if the skin is extremely blocked a course of 3 to 5 treatments taken weekly is strongly advised to achieve optimum results.
As a guide we can remove approximately 10 milia in 10 minutes. However this all depends on the size and location on the skin.

How quickly will I see the results?
You will see results immediately after a single treatment and is progressive after each session.

How long will the results last?
It is most likely that the milia will not re-occur. However this depends on many factors such as how one cares for their skin post treatment, the severity of one’s natural oil production, diet, stress, hormone influences, lifestyle and hereditary condition.
